The COVID-19 pandemic has coerced people around the world to adopt drastic measures to survive. Coincidentally, the same thing can be said for businesses too. At this time, the world is trying its best to emerge from a sudden blow of chaos dealt to us by a microscopic virus.
As we stay at home trying to flatten the curve, a lot of effort is required to re-instate the healthiness of plummeting economies and disorganized governments.
The lockdown has given us the chance to re-orient ourselves and reinvent existing solutions to continue providing our services. We are fortunate to be part of an industry that supports the option of having a remote workforce. All our physical offices are closed, and our employees are working from home.
At first, it was seen as a temporary solution during the lockdown period. We wanted to ensure business continuity and provide our clients with uninterrupted services. As the lockdown phase extended, we have had the time to contemplate on our work ideologies. It also gave us insight into how effective work from home could be for our business.
We found out that overall productivity had increased for all our employees. Like any other business, ours is a source of livelihood for many families. Our team wanted to make sure that we will be able to maintain operational efficiency even when our offices remained closed. Seeing a positive outcome has greatly motivated the entire team.
Consequently, we have decided that most of our team will now be able to work from home even after the lockdown is lifted. We intend to make this a permanent way of work because it has a lot of positive impacts. It allows our developers to work from the comfort of their homes, saves them travel time, and even saves fuel costs.
When our physical offices reopen, we aim to work with only about 30% of our employees from the office. The rest will be working from home. This decision has come in the wake of a pandemic that has severely destroyed the world’s economy.
We take these steps to increase preparedness for such outbreaks in the future. By having most of our workforce working from home, we will also be able to improve our business practices and provide better employee satisfaction. Like we said, the lockdown has given us the time to reorient ourselves and find better solutions to existing and future business risks.
